Canary Yellow

A pale, delicate lemon-yellow solid — lighter and more pastel than the vivid yellows of the early 1970s, with a gentle, almost pastel brightness that is distinctly of the late-1960s color moment — Canary Yellow (Kanariengelb, code 115 / L11E / 2910) was offered on the 911, 912, and 914 from approximately 1966 to 1973. PaintRef documents it from 1967 under multiple codes. The hex #FFFACD places it in the very pale, warm yellow family with subtle warmth. The name evokes the bright, light yellow of canary plumage — a color associated with delicacy and song, quite different from the assertive industrial yellows of speed and signal. It predates the more saturated yellows of the 1970s long-hood era and represents a quieter, more optimistic approach to yellow that was characteristic of the late 1960s. On early 911s and 912s, Canary Yellow creates a visually light, cheerful specification that contrasts effectively with chrome trim and dark leather interiors. Surviving documented examples are uncommon and historically significant as representatives of the very first Porsche yellow family.
