Chalk

A flat, chalky, slightly warm off-white grey — matte in appearance without being metallic, lighter than most Porsche greys, and entirely without sheen — Chalk (Kreide, code M9A) is one of the most culturally significant colors Porsche has introduced in recent decades. Autoblog notes it draws inspiration from Porsche's own historical greys of the 1950s and 60s — Heron Grey and Pearl Grey — and represents Porsche's interpretation of the flat-grey trend. Paint reference databases confirm it from 2017 through at least 2025, across the 911, 718, Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Taycan. Chalk became a defining color of the 991.2 and 992 eras, beloved for its ability to emphasize bodywork over color — the matte-adjacent quality makes body panels and surfacing exceptionally visible, and the car's lines appear almost sculptural. On the GT3, GT4, and Spyder it achieved near-icon status, and the rarity score of 40 in the Stuttcars database reflects genuine high uptake relative to other special colors. It continues through the current model range and remains one of the most discussed and photographed Porsche colors of its generation.
