Gulf Blue (Gulfblau, code 328) is one of the most mythology-laden colours in automotive history — a luminous, pale pastel blue at #91BFDA that evokes speed, freedom, and the specific visual identity of one of the most celebrated race car liveries ever created. Porsche and Rennbow both confirm that the colour traces back to the light blue and orange Gulf Oil paintwork of the Porsche 917, staged by British motorsport engineer John Wyer in the Steve McQueen film 'Le Mans' — and that the name derives from Gulf Oil, which sponsored the John Wyer Automotive racing team.
