Ice Blue Metallic (Eisblau Metallic, code Z23) is a cool, medium-light blue metallic at #7A9BB6 — a clean, precise shade with enough blue saturation to read clearly as blue while the silver flake gives it an icy, almost crystalline brightness in direct light. Rennbow documents it on the 911 in 1976–1977, 2009–2012, and 2016 and 2018, on the 912 E in 1976, and on the Boxster and Cayman in 2011–2012 — a two-phase history spanning the late air-cooled era and the modern water-cooled generation. The 997.2 reintroduction around 2010 as a launch color for the 911 Turbo S came with production constraints that caused delivery delays, leading some buyers to change their color selection rather than wait — making surviving confirmed Turbo S examples in Ice Blue Metallic particularly coveted among 997 collectors. Seven documented community examples span both production windows. The colour's name, the brightness of its metallic, and its selective availability across very specific production years have given it an enthusiast following disproportionate to its actual numbers.
