Mocha Brown

Mocha Brown (Moccabraun, code 451 / LM9V) is functionally the same very dark brown solid as Mocha Black — a finish so deep that its warm brown character is largely invisible except in direct strong light, where the color separates itself from pure black with a perceptible dark chocolate quality. The codes 451 and LM9V are listed interchangeably in Porsche's paint documentation of the period, with the name varying by market and model year: the transaxle models and some export markets called it Mocha Brown, while the 911 SC listing used Mocha Black. Dealer listings for surviving examples confirm this — a 1982 Porsche 911 SC in Mocha Brown appears in specialist inventory described as rare, consistent with Rennbow's rarity documentation. On the 911 SC it was an unusual and particularly elegant alternative to black, presenting as sophisticated and distinctive in person while photographing almost identically to black. Pairing with brown or beige leather interiors elevated the color from merely unusual to genuinely beautiful, and well-specified examples continue to attract disproportionate collector interest.
