Moon Gem

Moon Gem (Moongem, code 4OS) is a non-metallic solid with one of the most elusive and context-dependent appearances in the current Porsche PTS catalog — a desaturated, very pale lavender-white that reads as nearly white in flat overcast light and reveals its soft violet-purple undertone only when sunlight strikes the surface at specific angles. Porsche's official description characterizes it as a reinterpretation of the historic Moonstone (Flieder/Lilac) paint from the late 1970s, which appeared on only a few hundred cars across the 924, 928, 930, and 911 SC — and which itself was famous for the same shifting white-to-lavender behavior. Moongem was created in 2023 through the PTS Plus process, first appearing on a 992 GT3, and was named after the moonstone gemstone, known for its milky, iridescent white-grey body with a violet adularescence — the shimmering internal glow caused by light scattering through the stone's layered structure. High-specification GT3 RS examples wearing Moongem with matching purple leather and Sonderwunsch designations have traded significantly above list price, indicating both the color's cult status and the scarcity of such specifications.
