Nepal Orange (Nepalorange, code L20C) is a warm, vivid non-metallic orange — a bright, fully saturated solid that reads as clean and direct without the reddish influence of Signal Orange or the softer pumpkin quality of Gulf Orange. It replaced Signal Orange for the last two years of the 914's production run, appearing on the platform in 1975 and 1976 as the closing entry in the mid-engine model's vibrant orange tradition. The name invokes the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal, consistent with the geographic and exotic naming conventions that Porsche applied to several 914-era colors. Like virtually all 914 colors, L20C was drawn from the Volkswagen Group palette rather than developed independently by Porsche — the 914 was assembled by Karmann in Osnabrück alongside contemporary VW models, and most paint colors were shared. Rennbow notes that Nepal Orange, like any of the oranges available for the 914, looks superb on that particular platform — a car whose angular lines and mid-engine proportions seem perfectly suited to bright, assertive solids. As a two-year color exclusive to the 914, original-paint examples are not common, and the orange family's ongoing popularity in the enthusiast market gives well-preserved Nepal Orange 914s a devoted following.
