Nordic Gold Metallic

Nordic Gold Metallic (Nordgold Metallic, code 1D4) is a warm, vivid yellow-orange metallic that reads as genuinely gold-inflected — closer to the deep yellow-orange of a Swedish 50-öre coin than to either pale champagne gold or flat yellow. Porsche's own description connects it to the Nordic Gold brass alloy used in European currency, known for its durability and characteristic yellow-orange color, and traces its heritage back to the Gold Metallic of the early 1970s 911 and 914. Rennbow characterizes it as roughly the color of a favorite Pilsner with a small touch of red — an evocative and accurate comparison that captures the warmth and luminosity of the finish. It was chosen as the communication color for the 997 Targa 4S, appearing prominently in Porsche's marketing materials for that model, and was available on the 911 from 2006 to 2012, the Boxster from 2009 to 2010, the Cayman from 2007 to 2010, and the Cayenne GTS in 2010. Before 2009 it was available as a PTS color only, at a significant premium that limited uptake; Rennbow notes it is one of those colors that almost nobody chose, yet produces immediate enthusiasm in anyone who encounters an original example.
