Polo Red is a bold, saturated non-metallic red with a slightly orange-warm bias that distinguished it from the bluer Signal Red available in the same era — code 6602 (updated through 6702 and 6802 in successive years) was one of the original launch colors for the 911 and 912 when Porsche introduced the new model-year numbering system in 1966. The PCA's 1966 factory color chart lists Polo Red alongside Slate Gray, Golf Blue, Light Ivory, Bahama Yellow, Irish Green, and Sand as the founding palette of early 911 colors, placing it at the beginning of the entire 911 color story.
