Rubystone Red (82N) is the original production-era name for the color now known in the PTS catalog as Ruby Star — a vivid, deeply saturated magenta-pink non-metallic that became iconic as the launch color of the 911 Carrera RS 3.6 (964) at Geneva in 1991. Available from 1990 to 1993 across the 964, 928, 944, and 968 under paint codes 82N and LM3B, the color was described by Curves magazine as being very much the trend of the era — a bold magenta statement that pushed against conventional sports car red conventions with confidence. The Carrera RS in Rubystone Red with matching two-tone leather buckets became one of the definitive images of early-1990s Porsche culture. The color fell out of favor in the mid-1990s after Deutsche Telekom's equally magenta brand identity made violet-pink feel culturally saturated, but its reputation only grew in retrospect. Porsche officially confirms that Ruby Star and Rubystone Red are the same color under different era names, though some enthusiasts note subtle perceptual differences between original SternRubin finish and the modern PTS formulation.
