Sky Blue

Sky Blue (6403, Emailblau) is a deeper, richer blue than its name might suggest — Rennbow notes it presents as richer and slightly green-tinged rather than the pale pastel one might expect from sky, and describes it as a more sophisticated tone that flatters the curves of a 356. The German name Emailblau (Enamel Blue) reflects the factory's own description of the color's character: a smooth, even blue with the consistent depth of a quality enamel finish. Official 356 color chart documentation confirms Sky Blue was introduced as a new Special Color for the 356 C in 1964, alongside Irish Green 6406, Dolphin Grey 6410, and Togo Brown 6411. It carried through the transitional 1964–1965 period onto the earliest 911 production cars, giving it the distinction of being among the colors available on both the last 356s and the first 911s simultaneously. One of the most famous 911s painted in this color is the Porsche prototype known as Car No. 6, which Ferdinand Piëch drove in 1964 and Hans Mezger subsequently owned — a car whose original Enamel Blue 6403 was discovered under multiple layers of subsequent repaints.
