Speedster Blue

Speedster Blue (R602, Speedsterblau) is a rich, non-metallic medium blue that takes its name directly from the legendary 356 Speedster — the stripped-down, open-top sports car that Max Hoffmann convinced the Porsche factory to build in 1953 as a sub-$3,000 sports car for the U.S. market. When the Pre-A Speedster launched in 1955, it was initially offered in just three colors: Red, White, and Blue — and Speedster Blue was among the original trio, making it one of the founding colors of Porsche's most romantically regarded model. Auction documentation and dealer records confirm that approximately 180–200 of the earliest Speedsters were delivered in Speedster Blue, making it the rarest of the three initial color choices — the Rally investment platform has documented just 193 Speedster Blue deliveries from the 1955 production run. Surviving 1955 Pre-A Speedsters in original Speedster Blue are among the most coveted 356 examples at auction and concours, with pristine examples regularly achieving values in excess of $400,000.
