Talbot Yellow

Talbot Yellow (106), Talbotgelb in German, is a warm, buttery non-metallic yellow positioned between the brighter yellows of the early 1970s and the more muted earth tones that followed them. It has a perceptible red undertone that gives it a slightly amber warmth rather than the clean green-leaning quality of Signal Yellow or the sharp acidity of Speed Yellow; it reads more like a ripe lemon or fresh churned butter than a traffic cone, with a richness that pairs particularly well with brown, cinnamon, or cork interiors. The shade appeared on the Porsche palette from model year 1976 through 1980, available on the 911, 911 SC, 912 E, and 928. It was the last true standard-catalog yellow Porsche would offer until Summer Yellow arrived in 1987, making it a color that effectively bookended a full decade of yellow absence in the lineup. The Porsche Club of America has noted that Talbot Yellow succeeded Light Yellow — immortalized by the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 — with a richer, less acid character that has aged gracefully with the G-body 911 aesthetic. Its seven-year production run generated a small but visible number of surviving examples, and it remains a sought-after color among G-body collectors who value the warmth it brings against the angular impact-bumper body.
