Tobacco Metallic (464), Tabak Metallic in German, is a warm metallic brown with golden undertones that pushes noticeably toward bronze compared to the cooler, redder browns in Porsche's palette. The hex confirms its position as a medium-dark golden brown — richer and more gold-inflected than Copper Brown Metallic, with a character that Rennbow compares to the rare Lotus shade Tawny Gold and Ferrari's Nocciola. In direct sunlight the gold content becomes more pronounced, giving it a glowing warmth that distinguishes it clearly from more neutral chocolate or coffee browns. The Porsche Club of America has highlighted Tobacco as an arrestingly handsome shade particularly on the 911 SC and 928 body forms, where it complements the clean lines of the late 1970s very effectively, noting that enthusiasts should get past their brown-car phobia because this is a striking color. It appeared on the 911 SC and 911 Turbo in 1979 and 1980, and on the 928 for the same two years. PCA observers specifically noted it as striking on an early Turbo body, where the combination of aggressive bodywork and this quiet, luxurious color creates an unexpectedly refined presence. With a rarity of three, surviving late-1970s 911s and 928s in Tobacco Metallic are uncommon and sought-after among collectors.
