In low-light conditions it can read as near-black; in strong or warm light the purple reveals itself fully, creating a dramatic jewel-like effect. Porsche's own documentation confirms it was first offered in 1993 and available across the 964, 993, and 996 generations of the 911, also appearing as "Viola Pearl" under related codes, before extending to the Boxster 986 at the end of the 1990s. A Rennlist forum thread documented the near-disappearance of this colour from the community record — the existence of a Viola Metallic 993 was debated for years before photographic proof surfaced, confirming the very low take rate of the original production. It is now available as a Paint to Sample colour across the 911, 718, Macan, Taycan, and Panamera.
