X Blue

X Blue (Z91), Xblau in German, is a deep, saturated royal blue with near-black undertones that give it a powerful, authoritative presence. Porsche's own documentation describes it as a royal blue with almost black undertones conveying a feeling of power and speed, appearing bolder and more saturated in bright sunlight and more muted in darker environments. The colour was originally developed as a Paint to Sample Plus creation specifically for the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Legend Edition (992), presented in 2019 to mark the 75th birthday of six-time Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx — the design was developed to match Ickx's blue and white racing helmet, with a badge bearing the Belgian flag and Ickx's signature on the B-pillar completing the tribute. From there it was formalised into the PTS catalogue from 2021 onward, available on the 911 and broader lineup. The hex of #333638 is dramatically darker than most representations of the colour suggest, likely reflecting an extreme low-light reading. With a rarity of four out of five, X Blue is genuinely uncommon as a PTS selection, its motorsport origin story making it one of the most historically grounded of Porsche's recent special blues.
