Zambesi Green

Zambesi Green (L64K), Sambesigrün or Zambesigrün in German, is a rich, medium-to-dark non-metallic green with a natural, forest-floor character inspired by the great Zambezi River of southern Africa. The hex of #1E8550 confirms a fully saturated, deeply pigmented green with no metallic components, reading as a natural, organic shade. Originally offered on the 914 in 1973–1975 under the name Zambezi Green — shared with contemporary VW models at Karmann's Osnabrück factory — the colour was renamed Forest Green in 1975 without any change to the shade or code, a marketing decision that the p914.org colour resource notes with some amusement. Rennbow confirms it appeared on the 911 SC in 1980 and briefly on the 911 in 1990, and has resurfaced through the PTS programme where its timeless, confident green quality works well on modern bodies — a 996 in this colour is shown in Rennbow's image library as a great example. With a rarity of one out of five for the broad Zambezi/Forest Green family, it is among the more commonly documented 914 colours and one of the foundational greens in Porsche's mid-1970s palette.
